How modernized and strengthened GPS signals enhance the system performance during solar radio bursts

چکیده
A Solar Radio Burst (SRB) is one of the most severe natural hazards affecting performance global navigation satellite systems (GNSS). Considering influence different threat factors, GNSS developers upgrade to amend accuracy and noise-proof features systems. In particular, GPS gradually replaces “old” satellites (GPS IIA, IIR-A, IIR-B) with new-generation equipment IIR-M, IIF, III) featured by an increase in emitted signal power at L2 frequency new civilian codes. this work, based on examples extreme SRB September 24, 2011, 6, 2017, we study how such modernization can improve system during solar flares accompanied intense SRB. We recorded SRB-related drops strength (S), which were 7.5/0 dB-Hz for S1C, 10/7 S2X, 17/8 S2W 9/7.5 S5/S5X 2011/2017 correspondingly. The drop modernized blocks was comparable amplitude those blocks. However, IIR-M/IIF about 5 higher strength. This resulted a double triple decrease loss-of-lock density 2011 respectively, as compared IIA/IIR-A SRBs. Therefore, codes potentially enhance stability operation.

Solar Radio Bursts and Space Weather
Space Weather is the study of the conditions in the solar wind that can affect life on the surface of the Earth, particularly the increasingly technologically sophisticated devices that are part of modern life. Solar radio observations are relevant to such phenomena because they generally originate as events in the solar atmosphere, including flares, coronal mass ejections and shocks, that prod...
متن کاملAccounting for Timing Biases between Gps, Modernized Gps, and Galileo Signals
GPS timing and navigation user solutions are based on pseudorange measurements made by correlating user receiver-generated replica signals with the signals broadcast by the GPS satellites. Any bias resulting from this correlation process within the user receiver tends to be common across all receiver channels when the signal characteristics are identical (code type, modulation type, and bandwid...
متن کاملUsing GPS to enhance digital radio telemetry
The precise time available from the atomic clocks orbiting the earth in GPS satellites is used in many systems where time synchronization is important. The satellite clocks are monitored and adjusted by ground based control telemetry to within one microsecond of Universal Time. A number of commercial GPS receivers have the ability to provide a time synchronised output, typically one pulse per s...
متن کاملFeedforward Delay Estimators in Adverse Multipath Propagation for Galileo and Modernized GPS Signals
The estimation with high accuracy of the line-of-sight delay is a prerequisite for all global navigation satellite systems. The delay locked loops and their enhanced variants are the structures of choice for the commercial GNSS receivers, but their performance in severe multipath scenarios is still rather limited. The new satellite positioning system proposals specify higher code-epoch lengths ...
متن کاملIonosphere-Free Phase Combinations for Modernized GPS
In this contribution, optimal ionosphere-free combinations for a modernized triple-frequency global positioning system ~GPS! are derived. It is shown that these ionosphere-free combinations are directly related to the model based on carrier phase observations only, in which the ionospheric delays are estimated. For this model and thus for the ionosphere-free combinations, integer ambiguity esti...
